Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are disciples of Moses. We know that God hath spoken unto Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is. The man answered and said unto them, Why, herein is the marvel, that ye know not whence he is, and [yet] he opened mine eyes." — John 9:28-30 (ASV)
And said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
Does not that manifestation of miraculous power show where he must have come from? Could he have come from anywhere but from God?
And said, You are his disciple but we are Moses' disciples.
We know that God spoke unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is. The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that you know not from whence he is, and yet he has opened mine eyes.
Where could he have come from but from God? Who could have performed such a miracle unless he had been sent from God?
