Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"We know that God hath spoken unto Moses: but as for this man, we know not whence he is. The man answered and said unto them, Why, herein is the marvel, that ye know not whence he is, and [yet] he opened mine eyes." — John 9:29-30 (ASV)
We do not know from where he is. The man answered and said to them, Why, this is a marvelous thing, that you do not know from where he is, and yet he has opened my eyes.
They were the gentlemen who said, "We know," and they wanted, a little while before, to silence him by parading their superior knowledge; so now he turns upon them, and says, "This is a marvelous thing, that you do not know from where he is, and yet he has opened my eyes."
