Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"He said therefore, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I liken it? It is like unto a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his own garden; and it grew, and became a tree; and the birds of the heaven lodged in the branches thereof." — Luke 13:18-19 (ASV)
Then said he, Unto what is the kingdom of God like? and whereunto shall I resemble it? It is like a grain of mustard seed, which a man took, and cast into his garden; and it grew, and waxed a great tree: and the fowls of the air lodged in the branches of it.
A little grace grows and becomes great grace. If you have at present but little faith, be thankful for that little. Bring it to Christ; let it feed upon him; and your mustard seed will grow until it becomes a tree.
The same is true of the gospel throughout the world. We need never be afraid because we happen to be few in number. If we have the truth, the truth will live; and if the truth is as small as the mustard seed, there is life in it – vitality in it, and it is sure to grow before long.
We must not be afraid to be in the minority. Majorities are not always right. Are they ever? Perhaps sometimes.
