Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"and they lifted up their voices, saying, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us." — Luke 17:13 (ASV)
And they lifted up their voices,
They were not likely to have strong voices, for leprosy dries the throat, and the voice is low and husky. And when lepers cry, "Unclean, unclean," it is a terribly sad sound, but very weak.
These ten lepers lifted up their poor voices.
And said, Jesus, Master, have mercy on us.
They raised a plain cry, and the whole ten of them had to lift up their voices before they could be clearly heard.
