Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And the chief priests and the scribes stood, vehemently accusing him. And Herod with his soldiers set him at nought, and mocked him, and arraying him in gorgeous apparel sent him back to Pilate." — Luke 23:10-11 (ASV)
And the chief priests and scribes stood and vehemently accused him. And Herod with his men of war set him at nought, and mocked him, and arrayed him in a gorgeous robe, and sent him again to Pilate.
This robe was probably white, sparkling, splendid. It tended to mock him. It set the example for Pilate and his men to clothe him in a scarlet robe, and mock him yet again. There is a contagiousness about an evil example.
