SCRIPTURE

"And one of the malefactors that were hanged railed on him, saying, Art not thou the Christ? save thyself and us." — Luke 23:39 (ASV)

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us.

He, too, borrows this speech from the rulers who derided Christ, only adding the words "and us" as a touch of originality. "If thou be the Christ, save thyself and us."

And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If you are Christ, save yourself and us.

Matthew and Mark speak of both the thieves as reviling Jesus.

We must take their expressions as being literally correct; and if so, both the criminals at first hurled insults at Christ.
