"For John the Baptist is come eating no bread nor drinking wine; and ye say, He hath a demon." — Luke 7:33 (ASV)
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine; and you say, he has a devil.
"He came among you as an ascetic, denying himself, not only the luxuries of life, but even the common comforts that others enjoyed, and you say, 'He has a devil.'"
And you say, He has a devil.
"He is out of his mind altogether, possessed by the devil."
For John the Baptist came neither eating bread nor drinking wine;—
An ascetic of ascetics,—
