SCRIPTURE

"But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink the cup that I drink? or to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?" — Mark 10:38 (ASV)

Can you drink of the cup that I drink of? and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with?

"Can you share my drinking in Gethsemane and my sinking on Golgotha?"

But Jesus said unto them, Ye know not what ye ask:

Has the Lord ever said to us, when we have been praying, "Ye know not what ye ask"? I suppose that is usually true in a certain sense; we do not fully understand the scope of most of our prayers, and sometimes we ask so unwisely that we prove that we do not know what we are asking.
