SCRIPTURE

"David himself said in the Holy Spirit, The Lord said unto my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, Till I make thine enemies the footstool of thy feet. David himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he his son? And the common people heard him gladly." — Mark 12:36-37 (ASV)

The Lord said to my Lord, Sit thou on my right hand, till I make thine enemies thy footstool. David therefore himself calleth him Lord; and whence is he then his son?

They could not answer that riddle, but we can. We know that Jesus is both David's son and David's Lord; a man like ourselves, of the great human race, yet "very God of very God," blessed be his holy name!
