Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Let the Christ, the King of Israel, now come down from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reproached him. And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour." — Mark 15:32-33 (ASV)
Let Christ the King of Israel descend now from the cross, that we may see and believe. And they that were crucified with him reviled him. And when the sixth hour was come, there was darkness over the whole land until the ninth hour.
A supernatural darkness, which could not have occurred according to the laws of nature. It did, as it were, "set a tabernacle for the sun"—the Sun of Righteousness was canopied a while in darkness, so that those horrible eyes might no longer gaze upon his terrible anguish.
