SCRIPTURE

"And they went forth, and preached everywhere, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word by the signs that followed. Amen." — Mark 16:20 (ASV)

And they went forth, and preached every where, the Lord working with them, and confirming the word with signs following.

Amen.

These last verses of Mark's Gospel have, as some of you know, been questioned as to their inspiration and authenticity, but they are so like Mark that you cannot read them without feeling that they are part and parcel of what the Evangelist wrote. Set any critic you please to work. If he knows the idiom and style of Mark's writing, he will be bound to say that this is part of the Gospel according to Mark. And God the Holy Spirit, blessing these words to our hearts, as I trust he will, will set his seal to what we believe and know to be his inspired Word.
