"And he asked them, But who say ye that I am? Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ." — Mark 8:29 (ASV)

And Peter answereth and saith unto him, Thou art the Christ.

"You are the Messiah." We know, from Matthew's Gospel, that it was this confession of which our Lord said to Peter, Blessed art thou, Simon Bar-jona, son of Jonas: for flesh and blood hath not revealed it unto thee, but my Father which is in heaven.
