Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And if thine eye cause thee to stumble, cast it out: it is good for thee to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, rather than having two eyes to be cast into hell; where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched." — Mark 9:47-48 (ASV)
It is better for you to enter into the kingdom of God with one eye, than having two eyes to be cast into hellfire: where their worm dieth not, and the fire is not quenched.
That is the third time he has uttered those terrible words; then they must mean something—what do they mean? Can they mean anything less than everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord? Oh, that we might be prepared to sacrifice everything rather than be lost forever! Dear hearts, are you saved or not? If you are not saved, see first to this all-important business; let everything else go, lest in eternity you find yourself forever shut in where hope can never come.
