"For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John." — Matthew 11:13 (ASV)

God did not leave Himself without witness all along. John ended the chain of foreseers and foretellers, and now the Lord Himself appears. Our Lord draws a line at John by saying, until John. Henceforth the kingdom is set up.
