SCRIPTURE

"But when the blade sprang up and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. And the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst thou not sow good seed in thy field? whence then hath it tares?" — Matthew 13:26-27 (ASV)

But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also. So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

We often have to ask that question. How does this come about? It was a true gospel that was preached, from whence then hath it tares? From where, then, do these hypocrites come – these who are like the wheat, but are not wheat? For it is not the tare that we call a tare in England that is meant here, but a false wheat – very like to wheat, but not wheat.
