Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"And when the disciples saw him walking on the sea, they were troubled, saying, It is a ghost; and they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto the upon the waters." — Matthew 14:26-28 (ASV)
And they cried out for fear. But straightway Jesus spake unto them, saying, Be of good cheer; it is I; be not afraid. And Peter answered him and said, Lord, if it be thou, bid me come unto thee on the water.
Strange impulse! It showed genuine faith mixed with that imperfection and presumption which was so common a feature in Peter's character.
However, his master admired the confidence.
