SCRIPTURE

"And they said unto him, In Bethlehem of Judaea: for thus it is written through the prophet, And thou Bethlehem, land of Judah, Art in no wise least among the princes of Judah: For out of thee shall come forth a governor, Who shall be shepherd of my people Israel. Then Herod privily called the Wise-men, and learned of them exactly what time the star appeared." — Matthew 2:5-7 (ASV)

And they said to him, In Bethlehem of Judea: for thus it is written by the prophet, And you Bethlehem, in the land of Juda, are not the least among the princes of Juda; for out of you shall come a Governor, that shall rule my people Israel. Then King Herod, when he had secretly called the wise men, inquired of them diligently what time the star appeared. (Matthew 2:5–7)

He half suspected that he should not see them again, so he determined to get all the information he possibly could out of them.
