SCRIPTURE

"But at midnight there is a cry, Behold, the bridegroom! Come ye forth to meet him." — Matthew 25:6 (ASV)

And at midnight

When things had come to the worst, —at midnight— the coldest and darkest hour, when everybody was asleep.

There was a cry made, Behold, the bridegroom cometh; go ye out to meet him.

That was a cry which startled everybody; none of the virgins could sleep once it was announced that the bridegroom was coming. I wish, dear friends, that we thought more of the great truth of the Second Advent. The more often it is preached, in due proportion with other truths, the better. We still need to hear that midnight cry, Go ye out to meet him.

That midnight cry, Behold, the bridegroom cometh, startled all the sleepers. It would be well if we all thought more of the great truth of our Lord’s Second Advent. The more often it is preached, in due proportion with other revealed doctrines, the more likely it will be to arouse both slumbering possessors and sleeping professors of love to Christ. As the midnight of this present evil age approaches, there is increasing need for all to be urged to listen for the clarion cry, Go ye out to meet him.
