"And while he was sitting on the judgment-seat, his wife sent unto him, saying, Have thou nothing to do with that righteous man; for I have suffered many things this day in a dream because of him." — Matthew 27:19 (ASV)
Here was an unexpected witness to the innocence of Christ. Whether the dream of Pilate’s wife was a divine revelation of Christ’s glory or not, we cannot tell, but the message sent by her to the governor must have made him even more anxious than before to release Jesus.
