"But the Pharisees said, By the prince of the demons casteth he out demons. And Jesus went about all the cities and the villages, teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing all manner of disease and all manner of sickness." — Matthew 9:34-35 (ASV)

But the Pharisees said, He casts out devils through the prince of the devils. And Jesus went about all the cities and villages, –

What the Pharisees said was of such very small consequence that, for the time being, Christ gave them no answer but this, Jesus went about all the cities and villages. In like manner, it will be your best plan not to reply to slander. There are some lies that smell so strongly of the pit from which they came that everybody will recognize their origin, and therefore you need not take the trouble to point out that they are falsehoods. And the best reply to all scandal and slander is to go on with your work just as if you had never heard it.
