Teaching in their synagogues, and preaching the gospel of the kingdom, and healing every sickness and every disease among the people. But when he saw the multitudes, he was moved with compassion on them, –
Yet Christ, while upon the earth in the flesh, never saw such multitudes as are gathered in London today. He never saw such multitudes as make up this nation; there never passed before the eyes of the Redeemer such multitudes as are crowded together in China and India today.
No; the population of the world has wondrously increased since those days, so what must be the compassion of his heart when he sees the multitudes that are living in the world today!
When he saw the multitudes he was moved – in the original, this is a very striking word; it signifies that he trembled with emotion, his inmost powers were moved, his heart was stirred with compassion on them, –
