"Therefore I also have smitten thee with a grievous wound; I have made thee desolate because of thy sins." — Micah 6:13 (ASV)

They lied and they cheated; so God would give them a wretched tongue, indicating their ill-health. He would make their present distress grow worse and worse, until they became sick from their wounds.
