Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Feed thy people with thy rod, the flock of thy heritage, which dwell solitarily, in the forest in the midst of Carmel: let them feed in Bashan and Gilead, as in the days of old." — Micah 7:14 (ASV)
Sometimes, there are pastures in the very center of woods, and God's people in Micah's day were like a little flock of sheep hidden away from their enemies in the midst of a wood, but God will bring them out eventually to far larger liberty. They shall yet have Bashan and Gilead to be their pasture, as in the days of old; and so the little one shall become a thousand, and the small one a great nation, and those who were hidden away because of their many enemies shall have such liberty that everywhere they shall worship and praise the Lord their God.
