"Where is the den of the lions, and the feeding-place of the young lions, where the lion [and] the lioness walked, the lion`s whelp, and none made them afraid?" — Nahum 2:11 (ASV)
You will remember how Mr. Layard took out of the ruins at Nineveh those immense lions that now stand in the British Museum.
They were the very symbol of this great empire, that boasted of its lion-like strength and ferocity. So the prophet cries, "Where is the lair of the lion?"
