SCRIPTURE

"Therefore set I in the lowest parts of the space behind the wall, in the open places, I set [there] the people after their families with their swords, their spears, and their bows." — Nehemiah 4:13 (ASV)

When Nehemiah knew the danger to which the people were exposed, he took measures to guard against it. I like the common sense of Nehemiah. He kept families together. I set the people after their families, with their swords, their spears, and their bows.

Beloved friends, I have no greater joy than such as I had last Tuesday, when I received five children of one family, all brought to Christ. May the Lord make our families to be the guards of the church!
