Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"who shall fashion anew the body of our humiliation, [that it may be] conformed to the body of his glory, according to the working whereby he is able even to subject all things unto himself." — Philippians 3:21 (ASV)
That it may be fashioned like unto his glorious body, according to the working whereby he is able even to subdue all things unto himself.
May he show some part of that blessed power in us tonight!
Amen.
Who shall change our vile body,
"The body of our humiliation." We have only part of the redemption while we are here. The soul is regenerated, newly-born; but the body is not. The body is dead because of sin; but the spirit is life because of righteousness.
The redemption of the purchased possession will be perfect at the resurrection. The resurrection will be, to the body, what regeneration is to the soul.
We sometimes wonder why we are sick, when Christ could make us well in a moment; but the reason is that he has not yet fully brought his divine power to bear upon the body. That is to be later; we are waiting for the Saviour, who shall change our vile body.
