"and be found in him, not having a righteousness of mine own, [even] that which is of the law, but that which is through faith in Christ, the righteousness which is from God by faith: that I may know him, and the power of his resurrection, and the fellowship of his sufferings, becoming conformed unto his death;" — Philippians 3:9-10 (ASV)
But that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith: that I may know him,
Paul means, "That I may know him more than I now do;" for he knew him, and delighted in him; but he felt as if he had not begun really to know Christ. He was like a child at school, who has learned to read and to write, and knows so much that he begins to want to know more.
