Charles Spurgeon Commentary Philippians 4:14-15

"Howbeit ye did well that ye had fellowship with my affliction. And ye yourselves also know, ye Philippians, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church had fellowship with me in the matter of giving and receiving but ye only;" — Philippians 4:14-15 (ASV)

Notwithstanding ye have well done, that ye did communicate with my affliction. Now ye Philippians know also, that in the beginning of the gospel, when I departed from Macedonia, no church communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

The Philippians were the only Christians who had sent any help to this great sufferer for Christ's sake in the time of his need.

I should not wonder if it was Lydia who was at the bottom of that giving and receiving, and perhaps the jailer also; they were evidently thoughtful and grateful people. They remembered the apostle's sufferings and needs and did all they could to help and cheer him.
