"Behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to render to each man according as his work is. I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end." — Revelation 22:12-13 (ASV)

And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last (Revelation 22:12–13).

These must be the words of the Lord Jesus Christ himself; no mere messenger, however high his rank, would have dared to say, I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last.
