Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"or he that exhorteth, to his exhorting: he that giveth, [let him do it] with liberality; he that ruleth, with diligence; he that showeth mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without hypocrisy. Abhor that which is evil; cleave to that which is good." — Romans 12:8-9 (ASV)
He who gives, let him do it with simplicity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness. Let love be without dissimulation.
Do not pretend to a love that you do not have. Do not lard your speech with "dear" this and "dear" that, when there is no love in your heart; and even if your heart is full of love, show it without spreading molasses over your talk, as some do. Let love be without dissimulation.
