Destruction and misery are in their ways; and the way of peace have they not known; there is no fear of God before their eyes. Now we know that whatever the law says, it says to those who are under the law:
All these passages, which Paul has put together in this dreadful mosaic, are taken from the Old Testament, so they apply to the Jews; and he had already proved, in the first chapter, the intolerable vice of the Gentiles, so that he has now shown that both Jews and Gentiles are guilty.
