Charles Spurgeon Commentary

Charles Spurgeon Commentary
"Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was reckoned unto him; but for our sake also, unto whom it shall be reckoned, who believe on him that raised Jesus our Lord from the dead, who was delivered up for our trespasses, and was raised for our justification." — Romans 4:23-25 (ASV)
Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him; but for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead; who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.
See the great object of saving faith—Christ, once dead, has been raised from the dead—and if you would be saved, you must rely upon the crucified and risen Savior. If you thus believe that Jesus the crucified is the Christ of God, the anointed Messiah and Redeemer, you prove that you are born of God; and if you trust yourself to the risen and glorified Christ, you have risen in him, and you shall rise to be with him for ever and ever.
