Charles Spurgeon Commentary Romans 5:1-2

"Being therefore justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ; through whom also we have had our access by faith into this grace wherein we stand; and we rejoice in hope of the glory of God." — Romans 5:1-2 (ASV)

Through our Lord Jesus Christ: by whom also we have access by faith into this grace wherein we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God.

So we ascend this golden ladder, from faith to peace, from peace to access with God, and from this to joy through hope. Happy people, who know this blessed way of climbing out of the sorrows of the present into the glory that shall be revealed!
