Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary 1 Corinthians 16:13

"Watch ye, stand fast in the faith, quit you like men, be strong." — 1 Corinthians 16:13 (ASV)

Paul now includes several apt exhortations, as he generally does at the end of his letters (Romans 16:17–19; 1 Thessalonians 5:12–22; et al.). His reference to “the faith” reminds one of the discussion of the faith in 15:14, 17. In a dramatic way, he encourages them to “be men [and women] of courage” (GK 437).
