1 Corinthians 6:9

SCRIPTURE

"Or know ye not that the unrighteous shall not inherit the kingdom of God? Be not deceived: neither fornicators, nor idolaters, nor adulterers, nor effeminate, nor abusers of themselves with men," — 1 Corinthians 6:9 (ASV)

Paul concludes that in practicing such acts of wickedness toward others, they had better realize that the wicked will not inherit “the kingdom” (GK 993) of God (cf. Jn 3:3-5). They are in a dangerous frame of mind—they must remember that if they act wickedly in this way, they are no better than those who will not inherit heaven. To the list of sinners already mentioned in 5:10–11 Paul points out specific kinds of sexually immoral people: the adulterers, the male prostitutes, homosexuals (in Ro 1:26 he also mentions lesbians), and thieves. In the light of this comparison, the Corinthians should have seen how unchristian and sinful their actions were toward one another.
