1 Corinthians 7:25

SCRIPTURE

"Now concerning virgins I have no commandment of the Lord: but I give my judgment, as one that hath obtained mercy of the Lord to be trustworthy." — 1 Corinthians 7:25 (ASV)

Paul is not now relying directly on a command from the Lord—i.e., from Jesus—as he was, for example, in Ac 20:35. Rather, he is giving his own opinion on the matter at hand, but his opinion must be taken seriously because by the Lord’s mercy he is trustworthy. In other words, his command is not any less inspired than one from Jesus.
