1 Corinthians 7:28

SCRIPTURE

"But shouldest thou marry, thou hast not sinned; and if a virgin marry, she hath not sinned. Yet such shall have tribulation in the flesh: and I would spare you." — 1 Corinthians 7:28 (ASV)

Paul hastens to make it plain that there is nothing sinful in marriage, whether entered into by a widow, a widower, or a virgin. His main motive in dissuading the unmarried from marriage is to spare them the hardship and suffering in physical life that accompany times of trouble and persecution.
