1 Peter 1:21

SCRIPTURE

"who through him are believers in God, that raised him from the dead, and gave him glory; so that your faith and hope might be in God." — 1 Peter 1:21 (ASV)

The section closes with a statement about the believers’ faith in God. That faith comes through the work of Jesus because he is the one who reveals the Father and because he is the means of reconciliation (2 Corinthians 5:19). Peter identifies the Father (v.17) as the God who raised Jesus and glorified him, with the result that believers have faith and hope in God. Jesus’ resurrection is the foundation of our faith, and his glorification is the pledge of the hope of our new future (cf. Romans 8:17–30; 1 Corinthians 15:1–11; Hebrews 2:10).
