1 Peter 4:13

SCRIPTURE

"but insomuch as ye are partakers of Christ`s sufferings, rejoice; that at the revelation of his glory also ye may rejoice with exceeding joy." — 1 Peter 4:13 (ASV)

In contrast to the usual response of sorrow and shock to suffering and persecution, Christians should rejoice because they are participating in Christ’s sufferings (2 Corinthians 1:5–7). The apostles themselves rejoiced because they had been counted worthy of suffering disgrace for the name of Christ (Acts 5:41; Acts 16:22–25). Christian rejoicing rests on the fact that just as we share in Christ’s suffering, so we will share in his glory with great joy. The prospect of Christ’s full manifestation in all his glory fills believers with joy and comfort.
