Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary 1 Timothy 1:14

"and the grace of our Lord abounded exceedingly with faith and love which is in Christ Jesus." — 1 Timothy 1:14 (ASV)

It was more than mercy that Paul received from God. He also received “the grace” of God poured out on him, “along with faith and love that are in Christ Jesus.” This is another of the apostle’s great triads. “Grace” provided his salvation, “faith” appropriated it, and “love” applied it.
