"desiring to be teachers of the law, though they understand neither what they say, nor whereof they confidently affirm." — 1 Timothy 1:7 (ASV)
Paul criticizes these would-be teachers of the Law heavily. His verdict was: “They do not know what they are talking about or what they so confidently affirm.” Their self-confidence was empty pretense. They spoke many words, but had little substance.
