2 Corinthians 3:11

SCRIPTURE

"For if that which passeth away [was] with glory, much more that which remaineth [is] in glory." — 2 Corinthians 3:11 (ASV)

The comparison in glory between the covenants advances one step further. So pronounced is the contrast between the two dispensations that what once was rightly considered resplendent now appears scarcely resplendent at all (v.10). The greater light obscures the lesser light, just as the sun obscures the moon. The old covenant belonged in fact to a vanishing order, which began to fade immediately after its inception—the glory on Moses’ face began to fade as soon as he left the divine presence. On the other hand, a covenant destined to be permanent (cf. Hebrews 13:20) must be invested with a far greater glory.
