Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary 2 Corinthians 6:18

"And will be to you a Father, And ye shall be to me sons and daughters, saith the Lord Almighty." — 2 Corinthians 6:18 (ASV)

The next mosaic of OT texts comes from 2 Samuel 7:14a, 27, with the reference to “daughters” possibly coming from Isa 43:6. What God promised to Solomon through David and to Israel through Solomon (cf. Jeremiah 31:9) finds its fulfillment in what God is to the community of believers through Christ (Galatians 3:26; Galatians 4:6). If Christians corporately are the temple of the living God (v.16), individually they are his sons and daughters.
