2 Peter 3:8

SCRIPTURE

"But forget not this one thing, beloved, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day." — 2 Peter 3:8 (ASV)

Peter’s second argument against the false teachers’ scoffing at the “delay” of the Lord’s coming stems from Ps 90:4: “For a thousand years in your sight are like a day that has just gone by, or like a watch in night.” They have overlooked God’s time perspective. The admonition “Do not forget” is addressed to believers and uses the same word that is used in v.5 of the false teachers’ deliberate forgetfulness. Christians must be careful lest the propaganda of the scoffers distort their thinking.
