"I had many things to write unto thee, but I am unwilling to write [them] to thee with ink and pen:" — 3 John 1:13 (ASV)

John’s statement that he wished to write more is characteristic of him (cf. Jn 20:30; 2Jn 12). Also characteristic is his expressed desire to see Gaius soon and talk with him “face to face” (cf. comment on 2Jn 12).
