"And when he was come, the Jews that had come down from Jerusalem stood round about him, bringing against him many and grievous charges which they could not prove;" — Acts 25:7 (ASV)
Festus convened court and ordered Paul brought before him, thus reopening the whole case against him, and the Jewish accusers restated their charges (cf. 24:5–6). But again they produced no witnesses, nor could they prove their charges. As for Paul, he stoutly continued to insist on his innocence (v.8). So the impasse remained.
