Expositor's Bible Commentary Commentary
"be it known unto you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom ye crucified, whom God raised from the dead, [even] in him doth this man stand here before you whole." — Acts 4:10 (ASV)
Peter’s defense focuses on the healing of the crippled man as being (1) “an act of kindness,” which (2) was effected “by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead.” His message is specifically addressed to the “rulers and elders of the people,” though it also has “everyone else in Israel” in mind.
