Colossians 4:15

SCRIPTURE

"Salute the brethren that are in Laodicea, and Nymphas, and the church that is in their house." — Colossians 4:15 (ASV)

Greetings are given to the Christian “brothers” of Laodicea, to “Nympha,” and to “the church in her house.” The reference to the church in Nympha’s “house” is significant. There were, of course, no church buildings in apostolic times, and in the NT, “church” always designates an assembly of believers, never the place where they met. The location of Nympha’s “house-church” is uncertain, though the context implies that it was in the vicinity of Laodicea.
