Ephesians 4:21

SCRIPTURE

"if so be that ye heard him, and were taught in him, even as truth is in Jesus:" — Ephesians 4:21 (ASV)

Paul now adds a note of certainty. In the preaching of the word Christ himself was present (2:17), and so those who heard were introduced to him and accepted him. They were also “taught in [Christ].” That is, as disciples remaining in him (Jn 15:4, 9-10), they received further instruction in the “truth” (GK 237), which is “in Jesus.” Paul does not often employ the historical name “Jesus”; when he does, it is invariably connected with our Lord’s death and resurrection. The truth in Jesus, then, has to do with the fact that the man from Nazareth was shown by his rising again to be the Son of God and the Savior of the world.
