"redeeming the time, because the days are evil." — Ephesians 5:16 (ASV)

Christians should be “making the most [GK 1973] of every opportunity.” What is meant is simply to make the best possible use of all circumstances like prudent merchants and not waste opportunities as they present themselves. “The days are evil” in a moral sense, not necessarily by reason of hardship and distress, though this may accompany these sinful times.
